The discussion will focus on the online sourcebook The Post-Soviet Public Sphere addressing the history of media and the public sphere in Russia in the 1990s.
This sourcebook and the complementing collective volume Media Cultures of the Russian 1990s: Inventing the Post-Soviet Public Sphere, edited by Maya Vinokour and available from October 2025, offer insightful studies on the politics, (pop-)culture, and the media landscape of post-Soviet Russia.
The panel is part of the conference “Processing Perestroika: Making Sense and Making Do” that will be held at the Georgetown University.
