New book on the classics of Romanian cinema
The new book Klassiker des Rumänischen Films [Classics of Romanian film], coedited by Stephan Krause introduces more than a century of Romanian cinema to German readers.
The book presents 25 Romanian films, both feature films and documentaries. It begins with The Independence of Romania from 1912, covers the 1940s films by Popescu-Gopo and the works from the 1970s and 1980s by directors such as L. Pintilie, Demian, Daneliuc and Gulea, and ends with the New Romanian Cinema from the early 2000s, when filmmakers such as Puiu, Mungiu, Porumboiu, Damian, A. Pintilie, Muntean and Netzer received increasing international attention.
The volume is part of the series “Klassiker des osteuropäischen Films” [Classics of Eastern European film].
